Wellness Wednesday: Fund your FCSfit Project

A recent survey by marketing company SheerID reported that teachers spend nearly $500 annually on classroom supplies.
Not surprisingly, a common query AAFCS receives from those in the profession is where to go for funding — for academic courses, for supplies, for professional development fees and travel — the list goes on.
Former Teacher of the Year Lois Lewis, CFCS, CPFFE (Minnesota), shared some sources she’s had success with, including: Perkins Funding, Action for Healthy Kids, and the National Dairy Council. She also suggests looking at possibilities like local for-profit companies as well as funds that states may have available for specific interest areas, like incorporating gardening into a culinary program.
This Wellness Wednesday, AAFCS is pleased to announce the availability of up to four FCSfit project grants (up to $500 each) for applicants to implement an FCSfit classroom or community-based project aligned with the FCSfit strategic initiative. Priority will be given to projects that are 1) creative, 2) innovative, and 3) collaborative.
The FCSfit Project Grant may be awarded to individuals or groups, though the project leader must be a current AAFCS member.
Up to two grants may be awarded in Fall 2017; the first grant application period is open now and applications are due October 6, 2017. Learn more about the grant and apply, here! http://www.aafcs.org/fcsfit/grants.html
